Open Letter To Love School

Once upon a time there was a guy and a girl who deeply loved each other. Wait a minute! Isn’t ‘once upon a time’ used for fairy tales?! And love for ‘adults’? But for most of us love is nothing less than a
fairy tale. So I’ll stick to it. Once upon a time there a guy and a girl who deeply loved each other.
Then a slut came and everything was over! The end. Haa!

This isn’t my story. Mine is far more complex than this. Just like everybody else’ story. Unique in its own way. Happy couples are all
alike; every unhappy couple is unhappy in its own way.

My Love School has always been very active. I have lost the count of my crushes. It’s been full of surprises, and always of giving sorts! (I have fallen in and out of love many a times). Apparently that’s not ‘true love’ because
true love is supposed to happen only once. I learned this virtue from
Shah Rukh Khan. Yes! Every single movie of his in late 90s made him a bigger
icon. Every girl wanted her prince charming to be like SRK and every
guy wanted to be a ‘Rahul’, winning hearts of million girls. (I always
wanted to be as COOL as SRK in kuch kuch hota hai.) I remember his
lines, “Hum ek baar jeete hain, ek baar marte hain, shaadi bhi ek baar
hoti hai aur pyaar… pyaar bhi ek baar hota hai…”. I don’t need to
pen down the movie name but these lines made me believe that love
exists. Yes it does!

Everyone wants their Love Life to be perfect. (But many fail in this
particular school curriculum). RelationSHIPS sink if there are too
many passengers on it. The best relationships are the ones you didn’t
expect to be in; the ones you never saw coming. I fell for a girl I
never imagined in my wildest dreams. But that’s what make it special.
My friend happened to ask me once, “What do you see in her?” I
replied: “everything you don’t”.

Love happens in weird ways, in hopeless
places, and with weird people! But when it
happens, it makes your life beautiful. Every stupid romantic song
starts making sense. Plug in your earphones and life suddenly becomes
a music video. I sometimes wonder that music industry would have gone
bankrupt if there would have been no true love, or flirting, or heart
breaks! Pick up any era and you’ll find song lyrics for every break
up!

One of the my best teenage memories is slipping under the blanket,
calling my girlfriend and whispering so that my parents won’t catch
me! (My first love!). I always want to be the reason my girl fell
asleep, with the phone in her hand,  waiting for my reply. We don’t
give a crap if our land line rings but we run like a ninja when our
cell phones beep. Even once! (I can see smirk on faces of all phone
addicts). Well, those small, stupid conversations mean so much more
to the one in love than others will ever know. I have been out with
many girls but the best date is with someone who can take you anywhere
without touching anything but your heart.

Well, girls love
conversations where guys don’t have to think about what to say. It
should come naturally. (Guys stop imagining your girl naked every
time. You’ll talk better!) My dad said once, “Real men don’t date the
most beautiful girl in the world, they date the girl who makes their
world the most beautiful”. (Hope my Love School gives me million ways
to love my girl).

Love School works round the clock. Our secret crushes, weak moments
over phone at mid night, love at first sight (its usually about sex
here), falling for your EX again, rebound stages after break up, new
found love (its new on my list), whatever phase you are going through,
Love School makes sure you never stop learning. New love always give
you a hormonal rush! It takes out the best out of you. 50% of the time
I waste wanting to talk to my girl, the other 50%, I spend talking to
her. How that two minute talk with your love one makes your entire day
and then missing someone so bad that even looking at their photos
makes you feel better.

Loving someone is wanting the best for them and
wanting them to be happy, even if it doesn’t include you. Sometimes
you love someone so much that not even the truth (bitter, dark and
dirty truth) cannot change your mind. Love is like a drug. Either it
gives you the best feeling or it screws you bad!

Love is a word that’s often used but rarely understood. Everyone knows
how to love, because we are all born with that gift. Some have a
natural talent for it, some of us have to re-learn. So follow some
basic instincts and you’ll get through your Love School with flying
colours:

1. Love is a risk, take it.
2. First dates are awkward, first kisses are heavenly, first loves are
irreplaceable, and first heartbreaks are unforgettable.
3. Relationships are like fat people, most of them don’t work out.
4. True love has a habit of coming back. Remember, it doesn’t have an
expiry date!
5. The fear of losing is worse than the losing itself… Move on..
Because the moment your EX sees you happy is the moment he/she wants
you back.
6. If a guy wants you for your breast, legs and thighs, send him to
KFC. Don’t be his cheap value meal!
7. Don’t fall in love with the wrong person just because they say the
right things.
8. A wrong relationship will make you feel more alone than when you were single.
9. If two people are meant for each other, it doesn’t mean they have
to be together right now… but, they will eventually!
10. Apologize. It doesn’t mean you are wrong. It means you value your
relationship more than your ego.
11. Guys, beware of what you say. Always remember: A girl never for
forgets. Never.
12. Having sex doesn’t make you a whore, just like being a virgin
doesn’t make you a saint.
13. Never belittle love. Because in the end, we only regret the
chances we didn’t take, relationships we were afraid to have, and the
decisions we waited too long to make!

Yours truly,
‘A guy who flunked his favourite subject’
